On August 7, 2018, the Tug McGraw Foundation, and their CEO Jennifer Brusstar, hosted a garden party for us and we were invited to create scarecrows for the garden. We started at our Creative Crafts Center to make our scarecrows, and then took them to the garden to stuff with straw. Jen expected a cat scarecrow from me, and, of course, that is what I created.
Our reward was a great "bangers and mash" luncheon with fresh vegetables from the garden and watermelon.
Cynthia and Chef Bob Hurley joined us at the garden, as well as our Administrator Fred Just and Public Information Officer Josh Kiser. Near the entrance to the Veterans Home is Napa County Fire Department Station 12.
We have a great relationship with our firefighters. We see them nearly daily as they respond to emergencies here or catch a glimpse of them working out in our gym. They, of course, were invited to create a scarecrow for the garden. What an amazing job they did!!! #Scarecrows
Since our firefighters could be called at any moment, Jen made sure that they were first in line for the wonderful lunch! What a great day in a beautiful setting.
