Tim McGraw Scholarship
THE TIM MCGRAW MEDICAL EDUCATION SCHOLARSHIP
 
The Tim McGraw Medical Education Scholarship provided a partial support for one Duke University graduate who participated in the CAPE program. The selected student had the opportunity to attend Duke University Medical School. This scholarship targeted female varsity athletes who displayed:
 
1) a record of academic excellence at Duke;
 
2) excellent interpersonal skills as demonstrated by interactions with patients, families and members of The Preston Robert Tisch Brain Tumor Center; and
 
3) continuous interest and passion in pursuing a career in medicine, particularly oncology. Support has been offered by the Tug McGraw Foundation in the amount of $25,000 per year for four years.
 
The Tug McGraw Foundation is pleased to announce that Johanna Bischof was selected as the recipient of the Tim McGraw Medical Education Scholarship. The award provided Johanna $25,000 a year for four years toward the cost of her medical school.

Johanna, who is a native of Vancouver, Canada, attended Duke University from 2001-2005 on a field hockey scholarship, during which time she was named an All-American. She was accepted to Duke Medical School, but deferred for a year to play on the Canadian National Field Hockey Team and participate in the Commonwealth Games. She started her medical school education at Duke in July 2006.
