Tim Blake, Shawnee, KS

“I am running for my brother Steven, who is a brain tumor survivor; having been directly involved with my younger brother being diagnosed and treated for a brain tumor, I know how important this cause is."

Beth Brewer, St. Paul, MN
"[I'm running] to honor the most kindhearted, considerate, and giving brother one could ask for, to honor his courageous battle, and to maintain his unwavering spirit and persistence in making a difference for patients and their families."

Steve Cibulka, Scottsdale, AZ
"As I prepared to run, I didn’t want to run only for myself. After exploring various charities, it was the Tug McGraw Foundation and Team McGraw that represented the spirit, enthusiasm, and personal touch that I wanted to represent in this effort.”

Erick Dalton, Washington, DC
“I am happy to join Team McGraw to raise money for brain tumor research. Seeing the destructive nature of brain tumors, I would like to do my small part to benefit someone afflicted, whether directly or indirectly, with this condition.”

Guy Dugan, Wayne, IL
Heroes: Rob Mullin "We are thrilled to welcome Guy Dugan to our crew of dedicated runners on this first adventure to the Bank of America Chicago Marathon. Inspired by our own Jen McDevitt, this is his first year to take to the streets as part of Team McGraw."

Gudrun Gisladottir, Chanhassen, MN
The Richard Hetzel Family “My husband, Tory, was diagnosed with an oligo/astro grade II tumor two years ago. After two surgeries, he is doing great. I am eager to join the mission to find a cure for brain tumors by raising money for the Tug McGraw Foundation.”

Diane Heidmann, Long Grove, IL
Dr. Sam Hassenbusch "Brain cancer is a devastating disease; in some cases, it can change a person’s personality. But despite the severe manifestations, it is not always easy to recognize. I hope that by running for Team McGraw, I can help to raise awareness and promote research.”

Andrew Helming, New York, NY

“I chose to run as part of Team McGraw because [TMF] has an exceptional mission. I do not know anyone personally who has a brain tumor, but I am very much an advocate for more research and support for those that have brain cancer.”

Chris Keller, Lake Zurich, IL

“My first event with Team McGraw was the Country Music Marathon in Nashville. I ran that event, as I run this one, in support of Jen McDevitt, a true inspiration and a great friend.”

Joel Kreuziger, Juneau, WI

“Having personally had a brain tumor, I know that the needs for research and support, not only for the ones diagnosed, but also for the family and close friends, is a continuous battle.  As I’ve gotten older, I have a greater understanding that, as a survivor, I can do a lot to help others fighting the same…and often times, more difficult…battle.”

Tara Lambert, Cornwall, VT

“I completed my first marathon last fall, and it was an incredible experience, fulfilling a personal goal.  Now I would like to enhance that experience by not running for myself…but instead, on behalf of others.”

Kevin Leathers, Memphis, TN

“The focus and determination that it takes to train for and complete a marathon pales in comparison to the fight and spirit that brain tumor patients, their caregivers, and their families display every day – and I am honored to serve as a member and the coach of this team.”

Glen McDevitt, Palatine, IL

“When [my wife] Jenny decided to run her first of three marathons in 2004 after having her first brain surgery to remove a malignant tumor…I decided from that day on that I was going to run every race with her so I could support her every step of the way.”

Jen McDevitt, Palatine, IL

“My goal with Team McGraw is to put a face to brain cancer. I can do this, because I am a brain cancer survivor myself – and a fighter. This will be my fifth marathon. I ran my first three all on chemo…and I run all of them with a spirit and a motivation to live.”

Thomas McGrath, Chicago, IL

“I first met Team McGraw when they joined together to run the Soldier Field 10-miler in Chicago. It was there that I determined I would not run the Chicago Marathon alone, but instead, as a member of this team and in support of their mission.”

Kate McLenaghan, Chicago, IL

“Jen McDevitt was my college roommate and one of my closest friends in college. I want to join Team McGraw to show Jenny my love and support of her in her fight against brain cancer. I believe in her and this cause, and I will do whatever I can to help her in this fight.”

Mary Miller, Durham, NC

“I believe in the mission of the Tug McGraw Foundation. So many patients do not get the opportunity to receive the services and attention to their cancer journey that the TMF promotes…and I run in honor of all those patients I’ve encountered during my time at the Preston Robert Tisch Brain Tumor Center at Duke.”

Brandon Monk, Chicago, IL

“The mission [of the Tug McGraw Foundation] and its passion are personally driving to me.  I am running in support of my good friend, Jason Manges, who [diagnosed with a brain tumor] has embraced this challenge and takes on each day with the poise, dignity, and grace of a true champion.”

Cliff Nellis, Lake Zurich, IL

“I wasn’t planning on running the Chicago Marathon this fall…until I met Jen McDevitt.  Other than my grandmother, I’ve not met someone who has responded [to this struggle] with such courage and hope.  It is an honor to join her [as a member of Team McGraw] to raise funds and support research in this effort.”

Gala Rogers, Kennesaw, GA

“One of my best friends of 10 years, Meegan, was diagnosed with a GBM tumor in August 2006.  She died earlier this year. She was an amazing fighter with an amazing spirit…and I am supporting Team McGraw to honor her and her courage.”

Brenda Schierl, Hanna City, IL

“I don’t have a magic wand to heal my sister-in-law (a brain tumor survivor), burt I do have legs that love to run, and it means the world to me to run on October 12 [with Team McGraw] for her and all the other families devastated by brain tumors.”

David Waters, Long Beach, CA

“My sister ran as part of Team McGraw in the NYC Marathon in 2007, and it is my honor to join her and run the Chicago Marathon together as we honor my little brother who lost his battle with a glioblastoma at the end of last year.”

Karen Wilmot, Richfield, MN

“Cancer is tough for anyone, but I truly feel for children and their families as they go through treatment. I do everything I can to help, from growing hair for Lock of Love to running races [such as the Chicago Marathon]. May God bless you for the work you are doing.”
