December 6, 2007 – Tips for Caregivers During the Holidays Holiday preparations can be overwhelming for caregivers of family members. Experienced caregivers offer the following suggestions to help you and your family keep the holiday without the hassles. December 6, 2007 – “Night at the Races” a Win for Foundation Over $9000 was raised for brain tumor research in the name of Sam Heitzenrater at this special memorial event held November 17, 2007. More than 250 dedicated friends and family joined together in his honor to celebrate his life and provide hope for others confronted with brain tumors. November 15, 2007 – Tug McGraw Foundation Gala Held in St. Louis The third annual TMF fundraising gala, “Denim & Diamonds: An Evening with Tim McGraw and Friends,” was held this past November 2 at Grant’s Farm in St. Louis. Here is a brief glimpse of the evening’s excitement, and stay tuned to the website for upcoming photos and a full report on the standout event. October 15, 2007 – Winner: 2007 Caregiver of the Year This year’s nominees for the “Caregiver of the Year” award included heartbreaking and inspiring stories of those who demonstrate courage, faith, strength, and a “Ya Gotta Believe” attitude in caring for brain tumor patients. The Tug McGraw Foundation is honored to announce Arlene Roselli as the 2007 Tug McGraw Foundation “Caregiver of the Year.” October 3, 2007 – “Angels Among Us” 5K Sets Record The 14th Annual “Angels Among Us” 5K run at Duke University brought together members of the brain tumor community – doctors and patients, researchers and caregivers - in a show of teamwork that resulted in the setting of a new fundraising record for the event. October 3, 2007 – Caregiver Support From The Wellness Community The Tug McGraw Foundation welcomes an outstanding new friend in our quest to provide the best information to our committed caregivers. The Wellness Community will be regularly contributing articles and sharing their expertise in areas such as education, nutrition, and exercise to strengthen and support those caregivers and families touched by cancer. September 12, 2007 – Children’s Book Blooms With “Hope” For All Ages Nashville poet, illustrator, and children’s author Shawn-Michelle Nelson offers this gift of hope and life lessons through the eyes of a seemingly fragile flower and her bespectacled worm friend named Wisdom in this treasure of a book titled Hope, complete with hand-painted illustrations. September 5, 2007 - Victory Party Tickets Available Now! Plan now to join the Tug McGraw Foundation for our Victory Party celebrating Team McGraw's run of the ING New York City Marathon 2007. Fun and festivities will abound at the Central Park Boathouse on November 4 as we welcome our runners back after their long journey to the finish line. August 22, 2007 – Acclaimed Author Shares Message of Inspiration Author Greg Forbes Siegman offers his book, The First Thirty, as an exploration of the lessons he has learned through his first thirty years – the wins and losses, the successes and failures, the acceptance and rejections – that have driven him to seek to inspire the best in everyone around him. May 18, 2007 – College Center Fielder Is Shining Example of “Ya Gotta Believe” Matt Lawson is a standout center fielder for the University of California in San Diego baseball team. He is the captain of the baseball team…and now, he is a brain tumor patient. As he leads his team into the NCAA finals, this young man inspires his team, his coach, and his entire community with an unwavering “Ya Gotta Believe” spirit. May 15, 2007 – Foundation Takes on New Role as Advocate in Washington, D.C. The Tug McGraw Foundation took a new step in the fight for a greater quality of life on behalf of those confronted with brain tumors by taking on the role of advocate with a recent visit to Capitol Hill in Washington, D.C. May 14, 2007 – The Caregiver of the Year Award Each year, the Tug McGraw Foundation receives hundreds of letters from patients describing their gratitude for the person who has helped care for them. Our Foundation’s mission is to improve the quality of life for brain tumor patients and caregivers. Annually, we present three awards; this year, we are adding a fourth - Caregiver of the Year. April 23, 2007 – Cancer Survivor, 8, Leaves a Lasting Impression The toughest guy on the baseball field stood just over three feet tall. He’s never had an enemy, but he’s claimed a victory in a battle many adults struggle to win. This shining star, Jimmy McKeon, tossed out the ceremonial first pitch of the game and left something special on the hearts of everyone in attendance. March 30, 2007 – Foundation Supporter Kris Campbell “Scrubs” in for TV Debut The March 2 episode of the wacky and award-winning television comedy “Scrubs” offered the celebrated appearances of TMF board member Kris Campbell and her sister, Beth Shenberger. Kris shares her insights on her day with the stars, her role on the show, and the “udder” shock that accompanied her brush with Hollywood. March 30, 2007 – High School Ballplayers Score with “Hits for Tug’s Team” Spring is in swing and baseball is back as two high school ball programs in Delaware look to rack up some big dollars for the Tug McGraw Foundation. With each hit logged throughout the 2007 season, players for the St. Mark’s Spartans and the Salesianum School Sallies will be scoring donations for brain tumor research and the fight against brain cancer. March 27, 2007 – Team McGraw Chosen as Charity partner for ING New York City Marathon 2007 Lace up your running shoes, break a sweat, and make a difference by joining Team McGraw as they take on the 26.2 mile challenge at the ING New York City Marathon 2007 this November to raise money and awareness in the fight against brain tumors. March 24, 2007 – Celebrities and QLu Ready to Change the World With the help of some celebrities and cultural icons, this new service makes it easy to connect fans with their favorite heroes. Celebrity donations of clothes and other items go on auction through QLu to raise money for each star’s favorite charities, and another lucky buyer takes home a piece of her favorite superstar. February 4, 2007 – TMF Partners with DivineCaroline “TMF would like to acknowledge the work of an inspiring new website called DivineCaroline. An enthusiastic supporter of our mission, DivineCaroline is a virtual sandbox for the everyday woman, and their ‘Body & Soul” area speaks volumes on Quality of Life.
