December 6, 2007 – “Night at the Races” a Win for Foundation
Over $9000 was raised for brain tumor research in the name of Sam Heitzenrater at this special memorial event held November 17, 2007. More than 250 dedicated friends and family joined together in his honor to celebrate his life and provide hope for others confronted with brain tumors.

October 15, 2007 – Winner: 2007 Caregiver of the Year
This year’s nominees for the “Caregiver of the Year” award included heartbreaking and inspiring stories of those who demonstrate courage, faith, strength, and a “Ya Gotta Believe” attitude in caring for brain tumor patients. The Tug McGraw Foundation is honored to announce Arlene Roselli as the 2007 Tug McGraw Foundation “Caregiver of the Year.”

October 3, 2007 – “Angels Among Us” 5K Sets Record
The 14th Annual “Angels Among Us” 5K run at Duke University brought together members of the brain tumor community – doctors and patients, researchers and caregivers - in a show of teamwork that resulted in the setting of a new fundraising record for the event.

May 18, 2007 – College Center Fielder Is Shining Example of “Ya Gotta Believe”
Matt Lawson is a standout center fielder for the University of California in San Diego baseball team. He is the captain of the baseball team…and now, he is a brain tumor patient. As he leads his team into the NCAA finals, this young man inspires his team, his coach, and his entire community with an unwavering “Ya Gotta Believe” spirit.

Each year, the Tug McGraw Foundation receives hundreds of letters from patients describing their gratitude for the person who has helped care for them. Our Foundation’s mission is to improve the quality of life for brain tumor patients and caregivers. Annually, we present three awards; this year, we are adding a fourth - Caregiver of the Year.

April 23, 2007 – Cancer Survivor, 8, Leaves a Lasting Impression
The toughest guy on the baseball field stood just over three feet tall. He’s never had an enemy, but he’s claimed a victory in a battle many adults struggle to win. This shining star, Jimmy McKeon, tossed out the ceremonial first pitch of the game and left something special on the hearts of everyone in attendance.

March 30, 2007 – High School Ballplayers Score with “Hits for Tug’s Team”
Spring is in swing and baseball is back as two high school ball programs in Delaware look to rack up some big dollars for the Tug McGraw Foundation. With each hit logged throughout the 2007 season, players for the St. Mark’s Spartans and the Salesianum School Sallies will be scoring donations for brain tumor research and the fight against brain cancer.
